Check the licence, then check the slab
Any concreting job over $3,300 in Queensland is licensed building work under the QBCC. This line only passes jobs to concreters who hold a QBCC licence, and the number should be printed on their quote. Run it through QBCC's online licence check before agreeing to anything.
North side, The Range and Gracemere
Every job is handed to a licensed concreter for that end of Rocky. Further out, like Yeppoon or Mount Morgan? Ring and ask.
- Frenchville Established homes on the slopes towards Mount Archer, where runoff and old driveways are the usual jobs.
- Gracemere A fast-growing town west of Rockhampton, with new estates, big sheds and rural blocks on its edges.
- Norman Gardens A big northern suburb mixing newer estates with older homes, where upgrades and add-ons are the usual work.
- Parkhurst Rockhampton's northern edge, with newer homes and working sheds side by side.
- The Range Established homes on higher ground west of the centre, where old concrete and steep entries are the work.
Phone call to poured slab
The step most people skip is getting the thickness, steel and finish written down. Do not skip it.
-
Ring or send the job
Say what it is, give a rough size and the suburb, and snap a phone photo of the spot.

Answer a few quick questions
Truck access, what is there now, any slope, any plans or shed kit. These are the things that change the price.
-
One concreter gets it
Your details go to a single licensed concreter who works your side of town. No bidding war, no five calls back.
-
They measure and quote
The concreter comes out, measures, and quotes in writing. Ask for the thickness, steel and finish to be spelled out.

You decide
Take the quote or leave it. The line costs you nothing either way.
Concrete under the Tropic
Rockhampton sits right on the Tropic of Capricorn, and the summers show it. Fresh concrete hates heat and wind: the surface dries before the slab underneath has finished curing, and that is where crazing, dusting and weak edges come from. That is why the good Rocky pours start at first light, and why curing is something to ask about on any quote. The guide to pouring in Rockhampton heat explains what that looks like.
The other big thing here is scale. A lot of the concrete around Rockhampton and Gracemere is practical, heavy work: shed slabs for machinery, boats and caravans, long driveways, and rural concrete for yards, wash-down bays and troughs. Those jobs need the slab sized to the load and the water planned before the truck turns up.
How this line works
Nobody here pours concrete. Rocky Concreters is a Rockhampton referral line. You run through the job, we ask what changes the price, and it is handed to a single licensed concreter for your side of town. Their quote, their job, your call. Ring 0489 908 651 on a weekday.
Before booking anything, the guides on what to sort before the concrete truck arrives are worth ten minutes, and how this referral line works explains who you will be dealing with.
Stamped on every job
The normal way a job is handled here, not a special offer.
-
One concreter, not a list
Your details go to a single licensed concreter. They are not sold to several businesses to chase you.
-
Licensed work only
Jobs only go to concreters holding a QBCC licence. Their number should be on the quote.
-
Nothing to pay us
The call and the form are free, and saying no to the quote is fine.
-
Told if it is not needed
If a patch or a clean will do instead of a new slab, you should hear that before anyone quotes a new pour.
Asked before a pour
Is this the concreter I am ringing?
No. No concreter answers this phone: it is a referral line. Whoever answers takes the job down, asks what changes the price, and hands it to a single licensed concreter for your side of town, who rings you to book a measure-up.
What does it cost me?
Nothing. Ringing is free and so is the form. The concreter prices the job and you can say no.
How do I know the concreter is licensed?
Concreting work over $3,300 in Queensland needs a QBCC licence, and this line only passes jobs to licensed concreters. Their number goes on the quote; punch it into QBCC's online licence check before agreeing to anything.
Do I need the shed kit before the slab is quoted?
You need the shed supplier's footing and slab drawing, even if the kit has not arrived. The slab, footings and bolt positions should be built to that plan, so it is the first thing a concreter will ask for.
Why do concreters start so early?
Heat and wind dry the surface of fresh concrete faster than the slab underneath, which leads to cracking and a weak surface. Starting at first light means the placing and finishing happen before the worst of the Rockhampton heat.
Is it normal for new concrete to crack?
Some hairline cracking comes with shrinkage. Saw-cut control joints give it a straight, tidy place to happen. Wide cracks, lifting or sinking usually point to a problem with the base, the steel or the joints.
